That you’ve spent decades talking in a cranky tone about how dumb or even how tall you are? Or mad that you’ve got allergies and a runny nose a lot of the time? Just picking on yourself? why do we have to go for the negative? Instead of noticing how crepy my leg skin has gotten, why don’t i pay attention to how this body of mine is casually perfomring miracles none of us even seem to notice.Hearts beating about 2.5 billion times in our lifetime-without us having to nag? Our lungs carry on-inhale- exhale- inhale- exhale inhale- exhale 500 million times without sending a single email or having a meeting about it?
We have brains with more neural connections than the Milky Way has stars. We are forged from stardust, hung out with supernovas, and have out of this world beyond the galaxy level processing power (Disclaimer: occasional glitch out. Like how does one remember every word from Barry Manilow’s Mandy but can’t remember my neighbor’s name who I’ve known for 25 years and see every day, walking the dog but I do know the dog’s name is Clancy?)
Every single one of us has casually defied astronomical odds- just by being here. And since the universe has spent oh. billions of years arranging itself perfectly so you and I could be here right here, right now maybe the long line at Home Goods to grab a new spring tablecloth isn’t the cosmic emergency either of us are making it out to be. Maybe today i’ll quit thinking about my weight, or my macular hole or what someone I don’t even know thinks about me and remember how wonderful it is to be here.
My favorite philosopher! So happy to see your posts show up in my inbox. Much Love
